Welcome ~
November 15, 2011 0 CommentsWhen first starting SoberComfort, I was concerned about the use of the word "sober". After all, who was going to get moved by a blog called "sober"? But then I thought, sober means so much more! And that is part of what I hope to accomplish... change the stigma associated with the word sober. At least here.
Definitions of sober:
1. abstemious in the use of alcoholic liquors or drugs.
2. devoid of excess, exaggeration, or speculative imagination.
3. marked by solemnity of conduct or character.
6. marked by circumspection and self-restraint.
7. sedate or rational.
8. cause a transformation.
That last one, #8, transformation, should be the goal for those who want to live a sober life. We are always transforming. Sometimes not in the right direction. Transformation to a higher self, living consciously, staying aware, letting go of self -the 'I' and working on this everyday is an awesome journey. There is no plateau! We will transform our minds, our bodies, the soul until the day we pass from earth.
The way to link the three, body, mind and soul is through enlightenment; changing our diet and changing the way we think will change how we feel. All the changes are happening within the flesh. You don't have to spend money, except perhaps for new food choices.
We are not our bodies. Our bodies are our vehicles to get us from point a to point b. But we must take care of them, hence good diet. Also, you probably know that we process thousands of thoughts in a second? Those thoughts turn into feelings, and feelings turn into actions. But we'll talk about that another time.
9. completely lacking in playfulness
This we are not! Laughter and a sense of humor is a healthy part of life. Never never stop laughing.
To sober connections~
Namaste, which means I bow to the light in you, until next time~
